  • 2. Measuring solute content is usually done with a hydrometer. The hydrometer is manufactured according to the principle of different solute concentration with different specific , and different volume of the liquid displaced by the floating body sinking into the liquid. When the hydrometer is placed in a liquid, the higher the concentration of the solute, the more the hydrometer sinks and the lower the specific . On the other hand, the lower the concentration of the solute, the less the hydrometer sinks and the greater the specific .

Returned them as there were just to many and I have since quit making wine.

For the price point you can't go wrong here. Buy your hydrometers and some spares or get together with your wine/beer making friends and get a box of 10 and split them up between yourselves. Comes with scales to measure percentage of alcohol and also easy to read Beer/wine/table wine zones to tell how your fermentation is going at a glance. Clean well before use. Store in protective case with foam at each end and they should last a good long while.
