My last liftmaster repair ( I have 3 of them) I ordered a kit just so I would have all the parts I might need. The only part that seems to fail however is the large white gear. This kit of 2 gears will provide nice spares to have on hand "just in case". Make sure to grease the gear generously with white lithium grease and your good to go. Just installed it today put looks to be the same gear as contained in the complete kit.

Good replacement for an old craftsman to keep running. Negligible wear noted after a few month to date.

Perfect replacement part for my 20 y.o Craftsman garage door opener. The belt drive model of the opener has only one option for the entire drive assembly that cost 2/3 of an entire opener unit at the big box stores! The chain driven openers have many more available drive assemblies, so they are much cheaper. I thought that since you have to remove the entire assembly to even replace this drive gear, for the price, it was worth a try. Once the drive assembly is removed from the opener, disassembly and replacement of this gear are pretty straightforward. Remove ONLY the Lower split pin holding this large gear in place after removing the clip on the lower gear and sliding it off the shaft. One reviewer of the complete assembly of another product reported that the big gear had been assembled upside-down and he had to remove and reinstall it in the correct orientation. I don't see how this could be the case since when I examined my gear, it doesn't seem to matter which side is up. Just in case, observe the orientation of the slant on the teeth and make sure that this gear has the same orientation before reinserting the split pin thru the shaft. 15-20 minutes of work and I had a working garage door opener again. I don't know how long this gear will last but it isn't difficult to install it again if I need to. Don't forget to check the balance of your door so that you are not asking the opener to pull up its full weight. That would certainly lead to premature wear of ALL the parts of the opener. Remember to put some good quality Lithium grease on the gear teeth to help reduce wear and noise.

Thank you, this took some time to to install but is still working well. The garage door is working and this saved me $300.00-500.00 for the costs of having someone come and repair it. If you are a handyman you can do this yourself with this gear. Be patient

Roll-pin removal and re-install took some effort and various tries with "tools" to get it to work. But persistence and ingenuity paid off. 26 YO opener works great again, for very little out of pocket.
