I ordered this product to use several types abrasive disks with my angle grinder. The idea being that I needed to move the abrasive wheels a little further away from the tool itself and to provide for additional angles of attack when trying to remove rust from curved and flat surfaces. I had seen a friend use a similar product many years ago and I wanted to have the same ability for one of my upcoming projects. When the product arrived, I took an inventory and noted that all of the scheduled components had arrived. The product consists of three extension rods (3”, 4”, and 5.5” long), three threaded outer flange nuts, three keyed inner flanges, and one adjustable spanner wrench.I immediately noted that the threads on the 3” and 4” extension rods were indistinct and rounded on the maximum dimension. The threads on the 5.5” extension rod did not look to be as indistinct but the outer edges of the threads were rounded. I then tried to thread the outer flange nuts onto the extension rods. The outer flange nuts would thread onto the 5.5” extension rod, but not fully and with difficulty. The outer flange nuts would not thread onto either the 3” or the 4” extension rods. I checked the internal threads on each extension rods and while they were tight, they were not excessively tight.Today, I borrowed the use of my neighbor’s vise and threaded a brand new 5/8”-11 die onto each extension rod’s male threaded section. The 3” and the 4” extension rods were very difficult to get the die started into the threads but with patience, care, and cutting fluid, I was able to thread the die onto each rod’s male threads and to get the die advanced all the way to the thread’s end. When the die was removed, the newly cut threads were sharp, shiny, and there was a lot of metal that the die had removed from each extension rod. The 5.5” extension rod was not nearly so difficult to run the die down on and the amount of metal removed was substantially less. Nevertheless, the threads were now quite sharp.I then was able to run the outer flange nuts onto each extension rod’s male threads with no troubles. If the threads on the 3” and 4” extension rods were cut with a die, then it appears that a severely worn die was used to cut those threads. If the threads were cut on a lathe, then someone screwed up. In any event, the extension rods are now in a useable condition and I will be putting them to good use in the near future.

I love the shaft extenders. I am grinding rust from the surface of my table saw and I’m trying to keep the surface as flat as possible. Using the grinder without a shaft extension forced me to tip the grinder and essentially just use the leading edge to remove material. Even with a mild abrasive this process could result in uneven grinding or gouging. The shaft extension allowed me to keep the body of the grinder parallel to the surface and use the entire face of the abrasive disc to grind the table. Obviously it isn’t a perfect solution for obtaining a flat surface but it is a huge improvement over just using the grinder without the shaft. I expect that I will find many uses for the shaft extenders, especially to get into hard to reach areas or awkward angles that the grinder otherwise would not reach. The components of this kit are very well made. The wrench is hard to keep spread at the proper distance as the moveable prong shifts pretty easy under the wing nut, but it is still functional and easy enough to return to the correct width. The grinder nuts feel very much like the original parts that came with the grinder and they thread easily on the grinder or the shaft extender. This set significantly improves the functionality of the grinder and is worth the minimal investment.

These are perfect for reaching areas with your grinder that you wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. I am working on a project currently where I can't quite get my 4.5" grinder in to do some cut off work. The small extension works great for my situation. I have an adjustable spanner wrench already so that's just a bonus for me. They work great on any tool which really comes in handy when you have a few (or more) grinders of different brands. One tool works for all of them!I think this is well worth the cost even if it helps get you through 1 project! These should last the rest of your life!I was also very surprised that I had no vibration at all with these when using acutting wheel. I've not tried grinding wheels or sanding pads yet, but I'm only guessing with a heavier wheel, there could be some vibrationOne slite variation from the advertised pics to what I received is that the extention rods have grooves cut on the end vs in the middle. I don't see any issue with this at all.

I love the flexibility these give you. I recently got a wire brush attachment and all my wrenches are too wide to get to the nut to tighten the brush securely. These solved that problem. I also frequently use my grinder for cutting, with how the tool is designed it makes cutting something close to the ground very difficult. I made some mistakes with some concrete anchors and needed to cut them off. Being able to extend the cutting wheel a few inches out allowed me to easily cut parallel with the concrete without the body of the tool getting in the way. Highly recommended if you need a little extra reach. It comes with 3 different lengths and extra mounting hardware circles, I don't know what they are called, but you get 3 sets of those too in case you ever lose them while changing attachments.

This fits my Dewalt angle grinder. The tool is particularly useful. It is adjustable to fit narrower or wider to easily remove the blade.
