For fresh water people, with trim cylinders that the scraper quad ring retainer or slip ring is re-useable your good -the snap ring that comes in this kit belongs in the trash can. It’s way to thick ,made with zero spring in it & will retain nothing -use the old merc retainer and you will be good -if it’s not re usable (salt water people) buy the factory kit …pass on this one -less grief
