Affordability

At Kennedy Violins, we are adamant about providing EVERYONE, young and old, access and the opportunity to learn an instrument by constructing beautiful, high-quality violins that are both easy to play and affordable. VIOLIN SIZE CHART

Find your violin size by measuring from base of neck to mid-palm.

Use the sizing chart to choose the correct size from the arm measurement.

Follow these instructions for the most accurate size: First, with arm outstretched to the side, measure the player's arm from the base of neck to mid-palm. Check the size chart below for the right size of violin according to arm length measurement. Always choose the smaller size if the student is in-between sizes. A larger instrument will hinder the student’s ability to play properly. The deciding factor is if the student is able to, or very close to, playing the 4th finger. If they can reach this fingering the violin will be usable.

  1. Extend arm fully to the side and perpendicular to the body.
  2. Measure from the base of the neck to the middle of the palm.
  3. If you are between sizes, size down.

Please use the sizing chart below to assist you.

1/16 14"–15" arm length, usually 3–5 years age
1/10 15"–16" arm length, usually 3–5 years age
1/8 16"–18" arm length, usually 3–5 years age
1/4 18"–20" arm length, usually 4–7 years age
1/2 20"–22" arm length, usually 6–10 years age
3/4 22"–23" arm length, usually 9–11 years age
4/4 23" and up arm length, usually 12 years and up in age

Very nice violin with all the accessories needed. Not happy with the warranty I bought. I have no paperwork for it. I would rate it a 5 star without warranty

I purchased 1/2 size violin from Kennedy Violins at Amazon. I also purchased 1/8 size violin from another seller at Amazon. The other vender sent me without tuning (I had to spend three whole days tuning and it was an agony) but this one came as ready-to-use!!! Unlike other sellers, they were very responsive to the customers and easy to contact. They send you right away what was missing in the box. Before I purchase these violins, I rented from local shop. The sound, wood quality, grip feelings are so perfect and actually better than what I have rented from the shop. Highly, highly recommended!!!===============I am editing my review after 8 months of purchase. My kid broke the end button of her violin while she was tuning. It was quite scary because 1) I was worried about the repairing cost and 2) my child cannot play the violin until it is fixed.Anyhow, I contacted Kennedy violin with pictures. They sent me the shipping label immediately and I shipped the violin without any cost. After sending the violin, I received back the all fixed, like-new violin in two weeks. Considering that I am in Connecticut and Kennedy Violins is in Washington, it is impressively quick delivery. They didn't charge me anything for repair or shipping because I had warranty.Thank you ever again, Kennedy Violins! It is so pleasant to use your products!

The violin came very well packaged and had no damage. There was a hand written itemized list to make sure everything was sent. We just got the violin and my son has not started lessons yet so I am not sure from a musicians side how this violin will sound, but from a novice parent perspective I am pleased with the item and the company. It arrived promptly and earlier than initially stated it would. The violin looks picture perfect and I hope it plays as well. I will update my review after a couple months of lessons and provide the instructors perspective.

This is my daughter’s second violin; the first was a loaner from the teacher. Teacher recommended this one. The sound is quite rich for such an affordable piece. We were quite pleased, and it really made a difference with our daughter who instantly felt like she was a “better” violinist; I.e. she could hear the difference, too. The case is nicely appointed and the bow appears to be of high quality. Huge disclaimer: I have no skill with string instruments myself, making this a novice’s review. One special note on service from Kennedy violin. We bought this as a birthday present, so it sat in the closet for a week or two before the reveal. When we unboxed it, I found a hairline crack in the bow. It was a Saturday. The folks at Kennedy violins were available, got me on email with customer service, and had a new bow shipped out Monday. Superb service. We’re very happy.

Daughters first year taking strings class, this came in a very nice case, with replacement strings and has been a very nice violin. Shoulder rest is a bit small, but useable. Very nice product for less money than renting one would have been. thank you.

This is the second violin I bought for my son from Kennedy Violins. The first one was a 1/4 sized violin and we loved the look and sound quality. That tiny little violin sounded better than some of the larger violins when played in an auditorium. The violin held its tune and we would at most require just a little fine tuning once a week. My son outgrew the 1/4 and so I purchased a 1/2 size violin. This one sounds even better and his violin teacher was surprised by the quality of the sound. The violin has held its tunes for weeks now. Delivery both times was quick and nicely packed, no damage to the instrument.

Disclaimer: i am not a musician and know very little about violons. I bought two: a 1/2 and a 1/4 and they both excellent. They both generate a “rich” and “jucy” sound - if that makes any sense. Even the miniature-looking 1/4 sized one has a great resonance. They look great too, especially the 1/2 sized one with a darker finish. I was able to easely tune them (using piano and a tuner app) and they remained tuned even after my kids “played” them (or with them) for days. Violin teacher also said both violins were very good. There are plenty of violins around the $100 range, but I am glad I bought the Kenedy ones instead. Also, this is a complete set - even the violin cases are the exact size for each 1/2 and 1/4 model. I, personally, am very happy with these (and more importantly, my kids are interested and get a kick out of playing them withou me having to ask them to practice - this isn’t an easy instrument to learn music from what I can tell)
