If you've never dragged a deer through the woods this is hard to comprehend, but you've got your rifle in one hand while trying to pull dead weight through the underbrush. Many folks have suffered heart attacks from the strain. This harness allows your hands to remain free while you pull the weight via the harness and strap. Likely same amount of effort, but more manageable with unencumbered hands. Still need to rest very frequently, get assistance and pace yourself to do it safely - this just makes it a bit easier.
