The photo shown is of an OEM Ford hood release cable. This is NOT a photo of the Dorman 912-042 part that I received. The stencilling on the release lever bears no resemblance to the OEM version or to the photo. It's absolutely horrendous...looks like a six-year-old unfamiliar with the Latin alphabet scrawled stuff on it in chalk. The latch handle is also glued on at a slight angle, so one wonders if there are other quality or fit issues. I'll never know, because I didn't open the bag. I'm returning it, and feeling very deceived by the false advertising. Do better, Dorman! If you can't copy an OEM part with some semblance of accuracy, use a photo of what you're actually selling in your ad, instead of a photo of the OEM part.Edit: The refund from amazon was prompt, so that's good.

The hood release cable was easy to install on my regular cab 93 f150. Works well and does the job. I gave 4 stars because I was so disappointed by the print on the handle. It looked like something you would see on a cheap bootleg part. The print looked smudged, cheap and faded. If you are looking for a restoration quality part, you will be disappointed. I am just keeping my old truck in operating condition so it's fine.

Simple direct replacement - no latch repositioning required. Fit perfect in my 1992 F150. It is squirrely to seat the boot in the firewall due to tight space but not the products fault. Once in it moves freely with no drag. Had the truck 8 years and never knew how easy opening the hood was supposed to be 'till now.

Cheaper then the OEM replacement. Not too convinced by the silk-screened logo on the handle (looks cheapy), firewwall boot is also a bit flims, however handle feel solid and fit right onto my 94 F150. Works with no issues.

Perfect replacement. Received in three days. Tight to install but doable if you follow the procedures on the blogs. Be sure not to crimp or pinch the cable because that is what caused failure of my original cable when some body work was done several years ago.
