This cable comes with a decent handle that feels stronger than the original for my blazer. If you're looking for plastic parts for your GM vehicle it's best to use the OEM parts.

While this is an exact replacement for my 2002 S-10, I have to caution you that it is a real challenge to install. I had to remove the washer fluid reservoir, the fuse box cover, several pressure clips on the inner fender wall and a portion of the snap in grill and the air cleaner assembly. The under dash had to get the sound deadener, the kick panel and the parking brake bracket loosened. Once that is all accomplished and the stop cap for the old release wire is removed from the hood latch, then the fun can really begin. The only drawback in design for this replacement release cable is the firewall sealing plug through which the cable travels through the firewall and is supposed to seat and seal to prevent moisture from entering the cab from the underside of the hood. The edges of this plug are not pronounced and do not have the grooves that the OEM cable had. As a result, the plug has a tendency to slide back into the inner cab area and lead to leaks of moisture and air. It is advisable to gently cut a very small groove into the plug where it seats against the firewall. Make the groove in a "V" shape and very small. When removing the old cable, tie a string to the hood release end to assist you in guiding the new cable back through the maze of hardware under the hood and use several tie wraps to help secure the new cable to something stable as it exits the firewall into the engine compartment and that will help prevent the plug from slipping back into the cab.I give this a 4 star rating only because of the firewall plug inefficiency.Other than that...nice product.
