Ordered one to replace the broken and stiff latch that I bought the vehicle with. Does not come with screws which was not an issue for me as I had the originals and they fit like original. Removed the hood latch, cleaned it and lubricated moving parts with penetrating lube. Latch now works perfectly, no stiffness, rubber grommet that came pre installed on the cable shield fit in the original firewall whole like OEM. Perfect replacement part.

My cable snapped recently, purchase this unit to fix. Perfect OEM replacement. Everything fit perfectly and resolved my issue. I can open my hood again :)

Because the failure mode is a long slow decline where it is flaky for a long time before finally fails for good and you only need to access the hood a couple of time a year to refill washer fluid or change the oil you're tempted to live with the problem. Don't, The part was cheap and this was a dead easy install and dispensed what was a frustrating two person affair to open the hood. Unfortunately the design is identical to the OEM so the cable will probably stretch again and the problem will resurface. Knowing what I know now I'll replace it again as soon as it starts getting flaky and save myself the aggravation.

The cable works well enough and was easy to put in, however, like in another review the cable is thinner than the stock cable and the grommet flange on the firewall side is too thin and wont stay in. I ran the wiring for my light bar through the grommet hole and used a little bit of caulk to seal it. Works good, would have given 5 stars if not for the misfit of the grommet.

Shop wanted $300 to replace this...$34 in parts and about 15 minutes labor, we replaced it ourselves! Fits perfectly, definitely good value.
