How to install it?

- Cut an 85mm (3 3/8") hole in the panel and allow a clearance of 70mm (2 3/4”) behind the panel to fit the gauge.

- Put the gauge in the hole.

- Using M4 nut and C type bracket to seal up the gauge.

How to connect wires?

Red wire --- Power Positive.

Black wire --- RPM Signal.

Orange wire (backlight) --- Power Positive.

Blue wire --- Power Negative.

Please note: Tachometer can be connected to 12VDC and 24VDC power directly.

Why Don't get RPM signal?

Tachometer sometimes cannot get signal by ignition system. So, I suggest Tacho sensor signal. It is more stable.

I suggest you can buy a Tacho sensor from Eling Parts. ASIN NO. is B07RR8NQ45, B07RN3HJ72.

How to be setting Tach RPM Ratio?

1. Turn on the power supply first.

2. Press and hold the mode button for 3 seconds to enter the setting speed ratio mode. then adjust speed ratio from 1-300 according to your request.

3. After setting, Data is automatically saved.

4. Please note: If your sensor is installed on the flying wheel panel, the RPM ratio is equal to the number of gears of the engine; If the speed signal takes from W-Terminal, the RPM ratio is equal to the half of the number of poles.

5. Normally, When the engine at idle state, tachometer shows 600-800rpm that means speed ratio is correct. If not, you can turn down or turn up speed ratio to check RPM difference.

Installed on an antique tractor. This unit doesn't like points style distributors. Would not recommend

I'm trying to get this tach to record a spindle shaft RPM with a hall sensor (magnet) and no matter what speed ratio I set it to, the needle will not move. Each revolution of the shaft (with the magnet affixed) should be a ratio setup of H-001.0, or 1:1 but I've pretty much tried every ratio and nothing works. Actually the interior light does work. Disappointed.

This is the second one I've purchased. The first one was installed on my sailboat about 6-months ago and is still going strong. Exposed to the weather 24-hours a day, it still looks like new. Be advised that the built in digital hour meter only works when the tachometer has power to it, not just when the engine is running. The 2nd tachometer was ordered for installation on a friend's sailboat where I've installed a new engine. Installation was easy (came with basic instructions) and calibration to my diesel engine was a breeze. Can be used with either an Alternator input signal or a flywheel sensor. I used a handheld photo-tach to compare calibration and actual engine speed. Average error appeared to be 10 RPM over a range of engine speeds. Not too bad! Choice of backlight colors is a nice touch as well (red or orange). I feel that this is good value for the price.

I use this tachometer on a sailboat Perkins 4.108. Aftermarket 250 amp alternator is switched OFF most of the time therefor the alternator stator pulse will not run a standard tachometer. My solution was to install a 'Hall Effect' magnetic sensor on the crankshaft pulley. I used a $20 "DIGITEN 4 Digital LED Tachometer RPM Speed Meter+Hall Proximity Switch Sensor NPN Red" which also has a 4 digit precision digital display. Measured with a handheld optical tach it is very accurate. Fortunately that sensor has enough poer to drive both this ELING (analog looking) tach and the digital from the same sensor. This gauge looks nice and waterproof from the front but its shortcomings are on the back. First it's mounting hardware is all plain steel, (studs, bracket, locking nuts) so don't mount this near a compass. I used the old tach plastic mounting ring which supplies a much more even grip on the panel. I coated the plain steel studs and nuts with tef-gel to prevent rusting. After all wiring was complete I sprayed the entire back of the tach with CRC corrosion inhibitor. I would not trust the electrical connector as-is for water intrusion. The outer trim ring is non-magnetic stainless steel. The unit functions great but let it be known - it STEPS in 100 rpm increments. That means the dial will jump one tick of the dial at a time. There is no granular movement, it jumps 600, 700, 800, etc. no in between readings. This is not a deal breaker form me as I have the 4 digit precision readout inside at the nav station. Just be warned it steeps in 100 rpm increments, at least when set on the 1:1 scale I must use.One other note: the hour meter only counts while the tack is counting rpm. In other words don't expect it to count time while powered on with the engine not running. All in all this tach is a great value! I knocked off a star for the magnetic steel mounting parts and 100 rpm resolution.
