I had already replaced the entire fuel pump assembly once with an OEM pump after the fuel sending unit part failed. I got about 40K miles before the replacement failed. I didn't want to spend the money on another OEM fuel pump so I bought this to replace the part that failed. Dropping the fuel tank is a pain, but I bit the bullet and ran the tank until I guessed it was almost empty. Pulled the pump assembly and installed this sending unit. Put everything back together and the fuel gauge sort of works. Instead of the fuel gauge being pegged completely full after I fill it shows it about 90% full. I have a 32 gallon tank and the fuel light now comes on when I have around 10 gallons left. It's better than not having any idea, but didn't fix the problem completely.

I installed this sending unit on my 2016 Ram 1500.The black wire has a weird bare metal tang on it and not a plastic connecter. I had to splice this wire.Not a big deal, but everyone should know.
