After searching for a suitable vintage or antique mantle clock, my husband decided it would be best to go for new.So, here is what we found:Right out of the box, my husband and I detected the high quality of this clock. The first thing we noted was the sheer beauty of the wood . . . rich finish--smooth, even, and beautiful.Then, the face. Perfectly set with lovely Roman numerals. Very traditional, timeless in its design. (Pun not intended...)Its quartz movement is accurate and silent. (We haven't engaged the chimes yet, so no comments there.)The size is perfect for a mantle, shelf, bookcase, or top of a cabinet or hutch.Husband and I are so pleased with this excellent and beautiful mantle clock!Very highly recommended.

Have only had this clock for 18 months and it no longer keeps accurate time! Have had to keep re-setting it monthly for the last 3 or 4 months. Will just throw it in the garbage at the end of this month! And yes, the battery(s) have all checked out to be fine. Do NOT waste your money on this useless clock! Whatever quartz movement they use is a piece of JUNK since it barely made it past a year.

Batteries did not last long. I have to replace batteries often. I wish I had known that before I purchased this one.
