The head is designed to go easy into the wood, with minimal effort by the chopper, and split the wood in two parts. The long handle creates extra power and has space for two-hand grip. Comes with an edge cover in leather. The head is attached to the handle using both a wooden and a steel wedge to secure fastening.

The steel is high quality, but the handle almost immediately fractured at my first attempt to split some firewood.

These Husqvarna axes are great value. You'll have to refine the edge and maybe sand and oil the handle but it is much cheaper and of similar quality to higher end Swedish axes. This thing splits 18" fire wood great but if you've got lots of knotty wood go for the bigger one. The design of the head is very effective as a splitter compared to a small forest axe.

Quality of this product is great. Husqvarna makes great stuff. However this mail is kind of a strange middle size. It is too big and heavy for one handed kindling chopping, but not nearly as effective at splitting large pieces of wood as my larger full sized splitting maul. I thought it would be a great middle ground, but realistically I never use it. If you’re looking to split big wood, I’d get the larger heavier version.

Excellent quality for the price. The unique design of the wedge is outstanding. The Husqvarna axes and mauls are not Gransfors quality as far as finish is concerned, but the rounds don’t seem to mind after I touch up the edge a bit. They just keep on splitting. I would recommend getting the long handle version and short handle version. The beefy maul get tiring after a while and the 19” version is amazing at producing kindling.

Breathtaking design. Sturdy axe. Hacking up burnt California trees with this sucker and it hasn’t broken with weeks of straight working this bad boy. If this one ever had an issue I’d buy another in a heart beat.

I really like this axe looks great and I used it to split some logs blew through many of them with a hit. I am really happy with my purchase I would definitely buy again and recommend hope to have this for a long long time.

This is a high-quality wood splitter. Very balanced in hand, and the cuts are smooth and clean, making for a safe experience. The axe comes with a nice blade edge, requiring no sharpening prior to initial use. Thanks so much!!
