The advertisement says 36,000 pounds but the pulley is clearly labeled with a working load of 12,000. Just a note of caution. The pulley is pretty robust and heavy so as one other person posted you should sign up for amazon prime and free shipping since you'll pay just as much to ship this one item.

I bought this used from Amazon and gave it to a friend. He seemed satisfied with the product as I have had no complaints. The Amazon Prime was very useful as this is a heavy product. I saved a lot on shipping.
