Frequent asked Questions
1. Why does my battery have two connectors?
- The first connector is the power connector, used for discharging power into the gun and for charging/discharging with a smart charger.
- The second connector, known as the 'balance' connector or 'JST-XH' connector, balances the individual cells of the LiPo pack. It allows a balance charger to check and adjust the voltages of each cell, crucial for maintaining battery health.
2. What should I do with my LiPo Batteries between every time I use them?
Before storing for medium to long periods, charge or discharge the battery to around 3.8V per cell (slightly above nominal voltage). Storing fully charged can degrade the battery's chemistry, while storing close to empty increases the risk of deep discharge.
Check the voltage every few months to ensure it doesn't drop below 3.0V per cell. Remove the LiPo from the gun when not in use to prevent unnecessary drainage.
3. My LiPo battery seems inflated. Is it dangerous?
A puffy or inflated LiPo indicates a damaged battery and should not be used further. Continuing to use it can lead to fires.
If you notice swelling on the field, remove the battery, place it in a LiPo-safe container, and return home. If at home, clip the leads, soak the battery in salt-water for 24 hours, then dispose of it properly at an E-cycler or hobby shop.
4. How can I prevent overuse of my LiPo in the field?
Monitor the rate of fire as voltage decreases; stop using the battery when it nears the danger zone.
Consider using a LiPo low-voltage alarm to signal when voltage drops below a safe level.
Invest in a low-voltage cutoff MOSFET to automatically disable the trigger when voltage reaches a preset point, though this option is more expensive.
