These feel like they are decent quality yet will break as designed if need. Allowed me to repurpose my non- breakaway halters to make them field safe.

Put this on a brand new weaver halter of a chronic halter thrower. Was afraid that this would just break while rolling, which is how he loses most halters and breaks them. However it has held extremely well and has weathered rather well for all the dirt that gets caked on it. Very cheap and very worth it!

These are great! A little difficult to put on correctly but that could be operator error!! So nice to not have to replace the whole halter.

Product useful and as described. I suggest dabbing some clear finger nail polish on screw before tightening. I've had 2 screws fall out. I wish they came with extra screws.

The leather supplied is very hard & stiff, compared to the leather break-a-way pieces on new Kensington halters. I don’t know how old the shipped replacement parts are.

I bought these to convert my nylon halters to break away (especially for the trailer) I only have Nylon halters, some thick, padded and embroidered that would probably never snap in an emergency. It was very easy to cut the little piece of nylon off all my halters and replace it with these leather straps. Super simple and it really isn't very noticeable at all. I've yet to have had to test one to see if it would break, but I don't see why it wouldn't. However, I don't see it breaking super easily or when it's not supposed to. They are substantial enough to stand up to everyday stuff I believe and seem like they would breakaway if necessary with the amount of force it would take to break any other leather break away. I'm happy with the purchase, and feel better now knowing that instead of my horses neck snapping, these would snap first instead... so far so good!
