Bought a Garmin Nuvi 265W at a Habitat for Humanity Rehab store for $1. After some tests, I verified it did work but the battery was dead. This kit restored the unit to working on battery power. Nice to have a non-connected navigation device.

My husband is trying to rejuvenate an old Garmin GPS. It is slowly coming back to life, so I guess we can give it a good rating except for battery life since it is brand new. He is happy with the battery. He would buy from this company again.

The replacement battery worked well and the instructions were good. The set of tools they sent were useless and I used my own instead.

I am a 60 yr old women and was able to do this with the tools provided !!!!! Who knew I could do this. I works like a charm. It was a little tougher to get the 4 screws out and put back in, than they showed but I did it. You need the tools and the DVD to make this work. Watch the DVD first it really helps.

Instruction was straight forward. Had everything you needed for the project. The case was the hardest part. So take your time and it will come off. Careful...when the electronics is exposed. When back together was a snap. Getting the label back on straight was OK. So you can see it was easy. Just order the battery next time, since you have all the hardware tools.

It got delivered promptly but the screw drivers in the kit did not work. The support by email was good and they sent other set of screw drivers in the mail. Only one work. I ended up buying another screwdriver at Autozone. I finally got the tools, changed the Battery and got a blank screen. My GPS died and never came back. Bottom line the transplant did not work! I returned the kit and bought a new GPS.

Taking apart the Garmin would be difficult without the thorough instructions and special tools provided with the battery kit. The video on the DVD walks you throught the process step by step. I have a lot of tools, but I'm not sure I would have had the special little screwdriver needed to take out the two screws that hold the case together. Also, without the pry tool they provided it would have been hard to pop the case open even after removing the screws. However, the little Phillips screwdriver they provided wasn't up to the task of removing the 4 circuit board screws, but I had one of my own that worked better. They are really in there tight, and a bigger screwdriver was needed. Replacing the battery itself was the easy part compared to opening the case. It worked fine, but it remains to be seen what kind of battery life it has. I can't say the original Garmin battery life was any great shakes, so hopefully it's at least as good as that. Time will tell.

Clearly Garmin's intention is that you should pay for a new $$$ GPS $$$ when your battery dies. This battery works perfectly! Easy to do if you are very carefull and take your time. Be extra carefull with the fragile copper foil tape connector that stays connecting both halves when apart. Tear that or pull apart the two halves to far and it is ready for the trash can. I watched the You Tube video on how to replace your Garmin Nuvi battery before buying. Great video by the way. Mine works and charges just like new. The battery is the same capacity 1250ma on the new and 1.25ah on the old. I found out on line that if you keep your finger on the displayed image of the battery it will go in a diagnostic or test mode.
