This required replacement and it is a 2 day process for me to pull the dash apart for my '03 JeepWrangler to replace it. It actually looked exactly like a previous replacement. I have had the dash apart 3 times and now have an all-brass unit which does not output as much heat as needed.

I have an 05 TJ in which the core started leaking. Winter time coming on meant I needed to get it fixed, and this was the best option. Install took an afternoon to pull the dashboard away from the firewall, but it can be done with minimal tools just a lot of time.BE SURE TO CLEAN IT BEFORE INSTALLING!!I did not and am now assaulted by the terrible smell of manufacturing oils when it gets up to temperature, regardless of heat/cold selection. No idea how to get it clean now, hopefully with enough time it will cook off?!?!Update 30 Dec 2021: the smell does eventually go away, however this core just doesn't put it the same amount of heat as the original. It gets warm, but the original would get HOT even in below freezing Idaho winters.

It looked a bit cheaper than the original but fit and has been working well for a few weeks now. It did have a chemical smell for a bit, so maybe rinse it before installing.

Big pain in the behind to install on a Jeep TJ. Don't get the cheap one. You get what you pay for. Install required R/R of dash, speakers, knee panels, all ancillary and primary plugs, air bag, turn signals, w/wipers, headlight/fog light switch, radio, instrument cluster, steering wheel air bag & column (cab side of the firewall)...ALL had to come out to get to the heater box (which contained the leaking heater core). What precipitated doing the repairs in was a sprung heater hose. Sprayed antifreeze all over the engine. So, had the new core, had to buy new hose, so I figured now was the time. Bought the other hose (takes 2, inlet & outlet) and antifreeze. Took all told about 3.5 hrs. Tear out to last screw in. Good luck Jeepers!

Buy a different one, this one is junk. Barely a year old and it is leaking and needs to be replaced again, which is a really time consuming job.

I was brave enough to remove my entire dash and steering column to exchange my leaking factory heater core with this one. Heats up just as hot as the original one. Just smells like it's burning off some machine oil. Probably should have rinsed it off with some degreaser before I installed it. It looks and fits just like the factory original. Hope it lasts for a long long time. Price was great compared to the Mopar replacement.**** UPDATE 12/3/2017 LASTED EXACTLY 4 YEARS. Can smell antifreeze and the windshield gets foggy. Time for a new one.
