I was tired of just using any old pipe decided to buckle down and get a proper tool since I do headsets fairly often and races and yes this worked exactly as you'd expect

I used this on a 1991 yz250 and it worked perfect, one collet was a little big but the other one fit pretty much perfect with maybe a little gap between the steering stem and collet but no biggy. Just use the red tube piece shown in the picture(sorry don't know what it is called) underneath the triple tree and all the impact is driven on the bearing. Just took a few hits and was able to install the new bearing with ease, twice in fact because the first time we forgot the bearing dust ring to go below the bearing so had to remove and re-install using this tool.

only tried on zzr600 (sames as early zx6r) but worked perfect. seated bearing in one hit and did not damage.
