Just like the one I had in the military only the carry pouch is better IMO because its not fabric, and the shovel is new and not re issued junk.

I got to use this shovel for the first time this weekend on a Boy Scout campout. I have used tools like this for many years while in the Army. One thing that I can say for certain is that, although the description of this item says "designed to mil-spec", it is not made to mil-spec.The weight, size and design of the shovel are about the same as an official military issue E-Tool. The only noticeable difference at first examination was rhat the hinge points wire "nut and bolt" instead of "steel rivit". However, upon the firs use, I found that there are other differences and flaws. The material that this shovel is made from is softer, non-hardened steel. While using it as a pick to loosen up the ground, I hit a rock and bent the tip. With continued use as a pick, the lock point between the handle and the head of the shovel gave way and rounded off. Also, the congressional sleeve gave way and jumped threads. It is now wedged on the handle. I will have to put it on a vice and see if I can back it off and see if the threads are damaged. Hopefully it can be repaired/salvaged.All in all, this is not a bad tool if you only intend to use it as a simple shovel. Just don't expect to use it as the design is intended to be used. It will fail.

I just received this for my son for Christmas. He wanted a shovel and I saw this and it was a good price. I cant believe how heavy and well made it is just looking at it new. Have not used it yet because it is a present. Happy with the product so far.
