  • 20,000Lb working load limit
  • Up to 3/8 cable or rope
  • 8 inch pulley
  • Double the capacity for your winch or reduce strain

Use the Rugged Ridge Snatch Block Pulley to double your winch capacity! This durable 8 inch long pulley is constructed from 3/16 inch cold rolled steel and is suitable for use up to 20,000lbs. For use with winch cables up to 3/8 in diameter. The pulley can be used to double the capacity for your winch, or to reduce the strain on the winch motor and your electrical system. Nice heavy gauge steel. Bearing seems solid. Can't wait to test it out.

Used these with a 17000 lb smittybuilt winch with 1/2 steel line. Pulled a 20 ton excavator out of the mud. Only problem is the snap rings will fail if your pull is not perfectly straight. I bought 2 of these and blew rings off both. Welded a thick washer on the pin and was back in business. No grease zerk. Probably on purpose so as not to weaken the pin. Just sprayed some grease in. I pulled harder than most people will ever and they held up. Good value.

worked well until the snap ring clip FELL OFF! incredibly unsafe, could have gotten someone seriously hurt or killed. i will be buying a better quality one for future use.

Good price, adequate design. Would like the snap ring to be in a deeper grove, for better retention. As others have mentioned in their reviews. It definitely is beefy and has a good heft to it. For the $$ price you cant beat it when compared to similar units from other competitors. They cost over $100.00 or more.As far as durability is concerned, that issue or lack of, will come from future use, and I will update my rating if that seems to become a problem. This unit was bought as a back-up, and for more complicated recoveries, where 2 snatch blocks would be needed and 1 would not be enough. This was bought with a 17.5 K pound winch size in mind(smittybilt X20), and will handle a 1/2" cable diameter. I wanted a 2x safety factor, instead of a 1.5x safety as some are comfortable with (more is better). This comes close to that..Finally: Grease the inside of the pulley and the cross-pin, this units design does not come with a 'Zerk(grease)fitting'*******

The basic design in the way it opens is fine. It's simple and strong with the added safety feature of an indicator that the eye could be pulling out. The big problem is the choice of snap ring and the design of the groove on the pin for the pulley wheel. OK, I was stupid in that I could not see the block closely from 150' away as I was yarding a log and the first clip on the cable end butted into the block, but this should be regarded as not an unpredictable event in a design review of blocks for this purpose. Yes the pull stopped my unloaded pickup on dirt, but that is nowhere near the 20,000 pound rating on the block, which was on a 30,000 pound nylon sling with two 3/4" shackles to give it a fat pin that would put less stress on the block eye and more freedom to swivel. The cable thimble did not blow out nor did the 3/8 fiber-core cable (rated at 2,440 pounds) show signs of being over-stretched.In any event, the snap ring came off during light handling and it was so wimpy that I was able to put it back on with my bare fingers! Had it been a heavy duty Truarc appropriate to an application like this, that would have been impossible. The point is this: Somebody could pop that wimpy snap ring while the block is under load, making it possible for the block to blow apart. In minor logging operations such as I am doing, that could get somebody hurt.I examined the ring "groove" and it was both shallow and has a ridge in the center (photo), hardly a proper ring groove at all despite what I may have done to it. So in addition to my stupidity, this was possibly a quality problem but for the fact that the selection of the ring for a pin this size was, in my judgment, far less rugged than it should have been. I have been an engineer designing industrial equipment with an extensive background as a machinist and mechanic. I am familiar with the design manual of the biggest manufacturer of snap rings (Waldes Truarc; I have a dusty, 1989 copy beside me). The manual has details for the smallest feature and tolerance to facilitate ring selection and groove design. The original ring on this product appears to be a beveled design similar to the 5102 series ring, which (although easier to assemble and remove) makes it more susceptible to failure under asymmetric thrust loads, unlike the 5160 series ring which is both stronger and has sharper corners for gripping the groove. There is no excuse for not picking a beefy ring with a larger and longer pin with a bigger deeper groove and possibly a washer behind it in an application like this. In any case, I'm buying the next size larger block while registering my objections. I may contact a local bearing house to get another ring for it.

I have not used this item yet, but I have many years of off road recovery experience. For the price, this product is extremely well made. The pulley and pulley pin are both CNC'd... thesides look like they're sheet rolled steel. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up another one of these. I know itsmade in China -I almost always buy American. But I really don't have the discretionary income to purchasean $80 pulley. For the money, this is an incredible buy. I have no doubt it will perform to the standards of comparableAmerican steel and manufacturing.

I now have two of these 8k snatch blocks, and have zero complaints. Though I only use them for ATV winching (2500 lb winch), and don't come close to the breaking limit. Unlike other slightly larger snatch blocks, it will take a 3/16" cable, so it's an easy choice for ATV/UTV use. Highly recommended.

I got this to go in my winch bag. I liked that it was rated higher than 2x the 12K rating on my winch.Soon after buying it I got the "opportunity" to test it out on the trail. I needed to run some odd angles on the winch line to get a truck back on it's feet. Not sure how we would have done it if we didn't have this along. I may be buying a second one.

Bought this a while ago and haven't really used it 'hard' until this past weekend when our 4x4 club was clearing some trees off the trail. Huge 7' root-ball right in the middle of the trail that we could no longer get around. We ended up using two winches to maneuver it to the side where we could then get around it. The point here is that I got to pull with the full 8000 lbs of my winch (cable all the way out, stalled winch motor, etc) while trying to move the stump. This snatch block took it all without any sign of use, much less and wear or damage. Might have to get another one just for those 'two block' situations (though since I usually ride with a group, there usually is another one if needed)FWIW my winch is an XRC8 with synthetic cable.
