I've only had time to go out one time and use this rock pick but it seems sturdy and stood up to the abuse I threw at it. Great value, I was looking for something in this price range that wasn't a piece of junk and I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish of this pick. I have no doubt it will last for years.

I bought it for hounding and digging at Fort Drum. It's an excellent rock hammer. Feels solid and sturdy and had no issues with it. Looking forward to using it in years to come. :)

I used this mattock to find rocks, crack them open and look for fossils. It has been working great and for the price I dont regret it.

My 6yo has been begging for a pick to use to go mining on exposed bedrock and mountain sides. This is a tad big for him, but with supervision, he is good to go!

We got this for our 6-year old grandson, who is fascinated with rocks. We picked up a bunch of obsidian nodules which we are sure he will enjoy breaking up. We will include a description of Crow Indians use of obsidian in making arrowheads. I have had my own rock hammer for decades, and believe this one will last him as long.

Bought two of these to go geode hounding and boy am I glad I did! These were perfect for adults and children. Not overly heavy...just perfect to chip away at lime stones and hardened dirt. Handle was comfortable with a nice grip. These lasted after three hardcore days of geode cracking and digging. The price here on amazon is the best I could find online and in-store. If you are planning to go geode/rock hounding, you'll need to get these!

It's a bit heavy, but works very well.Alternately, I could just start using it in my morning work-out routine and help get rid of my old lady arms.I'm new to rock hounding and needed something to break apart the dirt and rocks near a location I had spotted some interesting stuff. As soon as I got this in the mail, I packed it in my hiking pack, trekked two miles to the location, and started hammering/picking away at a cut out of rock. it did the job well, but the weight of this pick combined with what I was already carrying in my pack kinda tired me out early. I plan to use it again soon, as it did pick thru some very tough sedimentary rock and lava rock.

I bought the Stansport Prospectors Rock Pick so my son could do a Boy Scouts requirements field trip digging up fossils. He was really excited to open up the box to see his new fossil hunting tool. Now my son is a small/petite seven year old and this rock pick is on the heavy side with that being said anytime my son used the Stansport Prospectors Rock Pick I was there to help out. The Rock Pick is very sturdy and would be suitable for pros and amateur fossil hunters alike. We were given a lesson when we did the Boy Scout fieldtrip and now I know that the pointy edge is to get between rocks to pry them apart while the blunt edge or square section is to smash the rocks. My son found quite a few fossils and now we have a great tool to use for future expeditions. I highly recommend the Stansport Prospectors Rock Pick for fossil hunters.

Excellent price for 2 of these. I picked them up for navigating glaciers and icy snow fields. They will work well. The hammer end works well for set up of a tent as well.
