About this item

  • compact, easy to install, tachometer filter

This compact, easy to install, tachometer filter is installed between the tachometer and the tachometer signal source (usually the coil). The filter eliminates signal noise and surges caused by many ignition systems. The filter modifies the sharp up-and-down spikes into a semi-square wave signal for steady pointer readings and faster pointer response. This tachometer filter can be used as a direct replacement for the original GM tachometer filter which is no longer available from GM (replacement for 1975-1989 Chevrolet Corvette tachometer filter, and many other 1975-1989 GM vehicles). Measures 2" wide x 0.75" high x 1" deep. Made in USA.

I installed the unit on a intellitronix dash board that tachometer was jumping all over the place. Hooked up the filter and the tach works great!Great product!!!!

This product fixed 95% of my erratic tachometer, its still a little funky when i give it quick revs but within 250 rpms, when nothing else came even close to helping. tried all sort of resistors and caps but this has the best effect, im probably going to try to use 2 of them and see if its even better, or keep the extra for a spare.

This filter module will work with mercruiser 4.3 V6 engines with thunderbolt V ignition. I had to have this filter installed between the tach signal wire (grey) and the VeeThree EGM module with NMEA 2000 output capability. When installing the filter connect the yellow wire to the tach wire and the red wire to the EGM tach input wire. This is the low gain setting. The EGM settings will have to be tinkered with to get the rpm scaling right. Do not run the engine tach wire directly to the EGM! The unfiltered tach output voltage spikes will damage the Veethree EGM beyond repair (sealed unit).

Hooked it up and worked fine for two days then abruptly quit working. Would appear to have been a weak capacitor in it unable to handle the voltage. Wasn’t completely surprised after looking at the small gauge wires on it. Will be buying something made better.

Worked as described. Wild tach fully stabilized. Easy three wire hook up.
