The Beadsmith Steel Bench Blocks are an essential jeweler’s tool with many purposes. The long-lasting block starts with hardened steel that is ground flat, then polished and case hardened. This process makes it very durable, creating a surface that is resistant to dents and scratches. Depending on your projects, the steel blocks are available in multiple sizes. The heavy weight of the block keeps it in place on your work surface, also protecting your workbench from excessive wear and tear. The flat surface allows you to lay out your designs, prior to starting your projects. Once you’re ready to start creating, use your block for chasing, shaping, and stamping. It's a small block of machined steel. Comes with 4 small rubber feet. Nice and smooth. I mainly use it to fix bent knife tips.

It is on the small side. However, if you put it on a table where you’re working, it’s big enough to do detailed small items. Example rings whatever I wouldn’t try to do a big lot item on it. It’s got a nice week to it so you can tell that it it’s very sturdy. You just have to make sure wherever you’re hammering is able to take the hammering and the weight of the peace. Love mine, I hope this helps.
