Update: After using a couple dozen times, it no longer works. Power cord has voltage. No longer turns on.This ultrasonic cleaner has a large capacity of approximately 8.5oz, making it bigger than most retainer-sized cleaners, with an inside diameter of 3.4 inches and a depth of 1.8 inches to the max fill line, allowing it to easily hold items such as CPAP nasal pieces. The cleaner features two modes: constant cleaning and pulsating on/off cleaning, both with a 5-minute cycle, and the pulsating cycle has a 2-second on and 1-second off pattern. The ultrasonic cleaner works with the lid open or closed, and the device comes with a standard US 2-prong power adapter. The cleaner also has a UV light feature, although its functionality is not clear how to test that feature. The design includes heart-shaped covered holes that can accommodate up to 4 toothbrush or other handles.

It does light up purple and it seems the right color for UV, though I've no real way to check the spectrum. It makes noise like its vibrating, actually it sounds like a brush whisking around inside a metal bowl. I don't have a retainer or solution but I put my toothbrush in and nothing came off in plain water (though I do keep my toothbrushes well rinsed). It has a safety shut off for the UV light so if you lift the lid it turns off, which is good.There are several things about it that I don't like and seem like an issue.- Auto shutoff after five minutes. You're supposed to use this to clean jewelry or a dirty retainer in a mere five minutes? I don't think so, you'd have to go back and hit the button several times at least.- The opening for the toothbrushes is recessed from the lid by 5cm and it is a piece of silicone with an x cut into it. So if your toothbrush has anything on it it will get stuck in the crevice at the top of the silicone and good luck trying to clean it.- The metal cleaning bowl isn't removable. How do you clean it if you can't take the metal part out for scrubbing?Because of these issues I'm only giving three stars. I would rate it less if I was sure it wasn't cleaning or sterilizing but I can't effectively check either of those functions.
