This review is for the Buenoarte Store’s 1 LB Mixed Crystal Glass Mosaic Material.At first, I questioned the value of this small box of mosaic bits. I do stained glass. I used my off cuts to make mosaics. I got this because red and yellow glass is far more expensive than the other colors (due to the materials used to color the glass) so I always need more off those. So when it arrive in avery small box, I was concerned. However, upon review, I’m impressed.NOTE that these have a white backing on each piece. This can be a positive or a negative. I like to mosaic on mirrors or clear glass so that light can shine through. You will not be able to do that with these. They have a white backing. However, that also means that if you’re mosaicking over an old photo frame, you don’t have to bother covering whatever is underneath with a coat of paint.TIP: You can get great frames cheap at the thrift or second hand store and they are perfect for a framed ready to hang finished piece.I think what most impresses me is the rounded edges. As I usually mosaic with glass scarp, I deal with sharp edges. I found it very interesting that these are rounded. Like they are from a kiln, perhaps. You can root around in the container to find a piece you like. You could NEVER do that with scrap glass. So I think that makes these perfect for community crafts with children or seniors or just inexperienced crafters.I think the premium price is due to the white backing and the smooth edges. If you’re looking for that to make it safe and easier, it’s totally worth the cost.
