I got this 1x2 foot heavy duty metal shelf to use in the garage to hold some heavier tools we need to get off the ground. However, now that we have it here I am re-thinking that because of where the mounting holes are compared to our studs.There are 3 holes for mounting on each side. The 2 holes closer to the center of the shelf are exactly 16 inches apart. The middle and outer sets of holes would only be going in to drywall (or nothing if unfinished area). I am not sure how comfortable I am with putting that amount weight that only has 2 screws into studs. I also plan to use our own heavier duty screws compared to what comes with this shelf.With that said, I like how well built the actual metal shelf is. It thick metal and has a scratch resistant coating. I just need to come up with a better way to mount it. I may put a strip of wood (1x4) between 2 studs and mount it to that.I am giving this 4 stars (almost went with 3 stars) because I know it will work once I modify the way I was planning to mount it. Use good judgment and test it out after mounting it to the wall.

I ordered this shelf to use in my home shop. The hardware it came with was not heavy duty enough to hold the shelves, much less, the additional weight of items added to the shelf. There was no way the included hardware would support the advertised 150lbs. I ended up using my own hardware, which worked fine. I am storing various gas cans ranging in size from one and a half to two gallons - I can easily fit 3 cans side by side on the shelf. Works great for my purposes - five stars!!

I needed a heavy-duty steel shelf for an ongoing project. It needed to support two car batteries and a voltage inverter. When I saw this unit, I thought it fit the bill at a reasonable price. I ordered it. When it arrived, I inspected it. It was heavy-duty, powder-coated for durability and rust prevention, and filled with handy holes and slots for many applications. I temporarily installed the unit to test my rig.It was straightforward to install. I lined it up with a stout two-by-four and ran two screws into it, connecting the shelf with the solid backing. Because I planned to place very heavy items on the shelf, I gave it additional support beneath the platform. While this unit is heavy-duty, I needed to be realistic. A few screws on the back wall were inadequate; if you plan to place very heavy items on this shelf, you should do likewise.Of course, leveling the shelf sets you up for success; please see my picture. It's simple and will save you a headache. You could support the shelf by using cables in the provided slots and running them to solid support, or you could provide additional support beneath the unit. It's your call. The shelf's design will accommodate both approaches.Surprisingly, once supported, the shelf showed no sign of warping or stress with TWO marine deep-cycle batteries and a large voltage inverter placed upon it. Please see the picture. This is impressive. I couldn't be happier with this unit, and I can recommend it to anyone who needs a hardcore shelf. Great buy!

Nice quality - heavy duty shelf. I ordered this as I've currently got a mess of networking equipment laying around, hanging from wires etc. I wanted something that would hold my modem, my Wi-Fi router, and my security camera DVR, help clean up the mess, and organize things.This shelf did just that.Super easy to install, came with the hardware to do so. I like the lip on the shelf - it's about 1" tall, and provides added protection so my expensive equipment doesn't find itself laying on the floor.I also like the nice simplistic look - it's nothing crazy, and it's perfect for the location, and the purpose.

Very heavy duty shelf. It's constructed of solid steel and is a single piece. Side gussets with folded edges will allow this to support a decent amount of weight. Item seems to be powder coated so I don't think it will rust easily.
