For holding coil springs in place; these are a great replacement for the old, rusted parts. The bolts for the bottom retainer are just barely the correct length which makes them difficult to install. Without the lock washer they could tighten easily. But I really wanted to use lock washers. So I went to a hardware store and bought two bolts slightly longer. Installation was then very easy.
