These wooden plate or book holders are great for what they are, and what they do. Being very roughly hewn from wood, these are very rustic. The wood has not been sanded down, and you can really feel the rings in the wood. The two shapes fit together like TETRIS, and so there are no screws, or anything else to secure the piece of wood together. These are very simple, and they only fit together two ways, and one will appear incorrect immediately. There is a slight bevel on the bottom of the pieces that will allow them to sit flat on a surface, you need to make sure that when you assemble them, that these bevels are aligned with the flat surface. The other way will work but it will mean that the wood has less contact area with the flat surface.OVERALL: APROS:- Wood is beautiful- No fasteners, two pieces of wood fit together- Sturdy- Easy to assembleCONS:-None

These are cute, sturdy, look really nice and clean. The two pieces just "lincoln log" fit into each other. With a hardback book there is no problem. However, if you have a stiff paperback cookbook or something, it has issues holding the book open or it tends to flop over. They still look good and will hold a sheet recipe well.

These book holders are just what I needed in my kitchen. It looks as if they charred the wood and then brushed it off, because it dips in the softer parts of the wood. No residue came off on my hands. Nice and clean with a rustic look. Structurally, they're sound. Easy to set up and take apart for storage. They hold my cookbooks and my iPad at a good angle for cooking. You get two sets in this purchase. So, for $14, I'd say this is a great value!

These cookbook stands are very sturdy, and will hold a good sized cookbook. They didn't quite work as expected for exactly what I needed, but I am able to make them work, and am reasonably pleased. I have a large collection of recipes that I keep in some large 3-ring binders, and I was hoping that one of these would hold a binder. The binders are just too big for that. But I did find that if I use both of these together, one on each side of the open binder, they do the job. The wood is a bit rough instead of smooth (maybe that's what makes them rustic?) but I don't think they are so rough that they will give anyone splinters. I would have preferred a smoother surface, but it's not a deal breaker. I do like that they come apart for easy storage in a drawer or cabinet and are easily and quickly assembled to prop up your favorite cookbook as needed. If you're into the rustic, uneven and rough wood look, you could use these to display books, or even plates, as decor. But mine will stay in the kitchen and be used as needed for my big binders. They are reasonably priced for 2, and I would recommend them.

They do work for the purpose of holding a book upright. However they are quite rustic and have a pretty rough surface texture. If that is the aesthetic you are going after, then you might like them. I'm slightly worried the rough surfaces won't be kind to my book edges. Also the way they fit together just isn't very polished. I'd say the value for the cost is reasonable but I'd look for something more polished and better finished next time.

These cookbook holders are so nice! First, the wood is pretty and rustic. Goes great in my farmhouse kitchen style. Secondly, they work perfectly for holding your cookbook and are very sturdy, so no easily knocking them over with the thick foot bases. Third, super compact for storing because they come apart in two pieces. They are flat and easy to slide away inside of a drawer or kitchen cabinet. They are great and I definitely recommend to anyone who likes this style and wants an easy to store and functional cookbook holder. I would also say that this can be used as a decor piece to display any nice book or kitchen plate. I am using one for each purpose.

I love this!it looks like something from my mother/Grandmother's kitchen that had been passed down to me!Like the 1970's/1980s retro kitchens of my youth. It arrived just in time for me to make the wandies for Easter and it holds my old recipe book open without damaging it at the right angel and I can read the recipe well, without having to worry about the pages tearing, or closing while I read along. Nostalgia Love all the wayplus I couldnt beat the Price since I had gotten two! One for me and one to gift later!
