Worked perfectly right out of the box. Did not need to calibrate. A good value in my my opinion. .

These were more robust than I expected and had good heavy wiring. They can clamp onto a pipe up to about 1.5" diameter.I compared the plug-in end to another probe I have and the metal leads are a little shorter. I found that the plug popped out easily but it appears that if this is an issue I can replace the plug-in end or more likely I will just cut a small amount of the plastic off. See picture 2.I liked the strength of the clamp and the metal plates in the jaws bent and curved to a metal pipe after a couple trials.As far as accuracy goes - the temperature reading in F was within one degree of my other probe.
