I first came across leather fly swats years ago, but they are not too common. They are also very expensive compared to the really cheap plastic ones. The difference is that the leather ones work - 100 times better. The secret is in the flexibility of the leather compared to rigid plastic. You can use the leather more like a whip with a short, sharp flick action. It comes at the fly so fast, and witout the usual downward movement of the air that the fly doesn't stand a chance. I have even managed to kill wasps in mid air. Worth every penny and the actual swat is really well made.
