Chalcopyrite Peacock Ore is a metal that displays vibrant blues, purples, teals, and other color shades when the surface tarnishes. In most cases the chalcopyrite takes many years to naturally tarnish when exposed to elements, so to speed up the natural process freshly mined Chalcopyrite is dipped in acid then rinsed off completely with water which causes the metal to naturally tarnish much faster. This process is used on most commercial Chalcopyrite Peacock Ore on the market and you can NOT tumble these stones since it will remove the tarnish on the surface which is what causes the intensely vivid colors. The surface color can also flake off if rubbed too hard, similar to how you can wipe rust off a piece of rusty iron exposing the natural metal. If this happens to Chalcopyrite you will see the natural golden color of the Chalcopyrite under where the tarnish has flaked or been rubbed off. This is naturally occurring in Chalcopyrite and we want customers to understand this natural occurance and that the stones aren't painted, foil stamped, or processed in any way other than dipped in acid then allowed to tarnish to the beautiful colors you see on the surface. The Dolls are very particular with their brand of Chalcopyrite to ensure each piece has a superior quality, color, vibrance and beauty. Every stone is unique and you will not be receiving the exact stones in the pictures. In most cases the color is on the top and the sides of the stones but it is possible for the bottom not to have as much color and there will be variances in color, shape, size, and patterns in every stone.

Very inconsistent coloring. The stones were mostly silver with splashes of color. I’m a crystal collector and I usually buy my gems from individual sellers and not from mass market sites like amazon, but I’ve done it before and I know there’s a risk each time. This risk didn’t pan out :(
