The tap provided with my kit was not the correct size, and the installation tool is so cheap that the slot at the end of it was deformed by just installing the insert.

I over-torqued my BMW's oil pan bolt and was looking at spending $1100 replacing the oil pan. A friend of mine suggested I simply use a Helical kit to repair the threads. After careful preparation, we performed the task with minimal effort. The new threads are steel and I can continue to use the OEM bolt - it's a perfect fit! Highly recommend this type of kit for anyone who has stripped bolts on aluminum blocks.
