If, like me, you start by using a cup wheel to grind down your concrete floor or counter to show some aggregate, you know that getting those scratches out is next to impossible with standard resin grinding/polishing pads. These metal pads, which start at 30 grit and go up to 400, are able to accomplish effective scratch removal even with a hand held planetary grinder. When you transition to the resin pads, go back down one grit as these are a little less fine than resin pads. So as an example, if you use these up to 100 grit, go back down to 50 grit when you switch to the resin pads.
