Every base was not flat. One side was taller than the other! Don’t waste your money. You get what you pay for! I had to smash one side down with a hammer to get it to sit level.

There are many different post bases to choose from. I had a deck and the treated 4x4 posts rotted from the bottom, even though they were pressure treated. The problem was that the 4x4 post base would make contact with a pool of water whenever it rained. The ends of a post are like a drinking straw and they soak up water and bring it inside the bottom of the post. Fungus grows inside and eventually rots the post from the inside because the inside does not have any anti-fungal treatment like the outside. The pressure treatment is only a quarter inch deep at best. When a post is cut, you can see that the inside of the post is untreated.These post bases elevate the post one inch, which well above the ground. It's a great way to keep the bottom of the post dry and to prolong the life of the post. The top of the post should be treated and sealed if it is exposed. The best option for exposed post tops is to cover them with post caps. With the top and bottom covered, they will last much longer.If you are mounting posts in an area where it gets wet, these post bases are a great way to extend the life of your 4x4 posts.

The folds were correct, easy to install.Needs to be thicker wall steel, as it is too flimsy.I would pay more for thicker wall steel (heavier gauge steel)

These 4x4 post mounts are an imitation of a simpson bracket, but they aren't as good. They certainly aren't for single post applications, but I personally wouldn't even use these for a pergola - their ideal application.
