I picked up this power inlet box to use with my new 10,000W generator I got for home backup power during storms and emergency power shutoffs due to heat waves (thanks CA PG&E). This inlet box is nice and sturdy. The metal box is fairly thick gauge material and the paint coating is also very thick so I don't think this will have any trouble standing up to the elements. The receptacle fits my 50A cord plug fine and it's nice having the ability to use the screw on lock collar of the cord as well for extra sealing in bad weather.The only negative thing about this box is the fake knockouts. This and all the other similar 50A inlet boxes on Amazon seem to have the same issue with this. The instructions do not try and hide the fact that these are NOT regular knockout plugs and they instruct you to drill out the knockout you plan to use. I managed to do this using a stepper bit and it was a slow and painful process to get the hole large enough to mount a 3/4" EMT compression fitting. The ID of the fake knockout is also sized for a 1/2" EMT fitting so you end up drilling out the larger raised ring as well in order to to fit a 3/4" EMT fitting which is necessary to run 6 AWG wire for a 50A receptacle. Not sure why they designed it this way. It would've almost been better to have no knockouts at all on this box so it's not misleading to some people.

Junk!!!! Knockouts weren’t functional so I had to drill the sides with a step bit… laughably, the fake knockouts we’re 1/2”…. For a 50 amp 240v service you should be running 6/3 wire, which won’t fit in 1/2” conduit. They look really nice but they’re honestly overpriced garbage. Also, set screw on the wire connectors are cheap junk they stripped all to hell when sufficient torque to clamp 6awg was applied, I had to replace all 3 set screws.
