My Trane furnace is 24 years old and has performed perfectly until this fall. It became intermittant. The furnace ran for a short time then shut down several degrees before reaching the set temperature. the motherboard would not respond to any function. It acted like it was dead...and it was! These boards have a built in self diagnosing feature unless they lose power which was what happened in my case. I tapped on the circuit board which restored power and the board worked normally for a few days until it "died" again. Another tapping on the motherboard again restored power.If you are going to replace the board yourself, take the time to familiarize yourself with both old and new circuit boards befor you start pulling wires off the old one. Do them one at a time! None of the wires have labels on them.The new motherboard took a few days to arrive. Be aware, if you have an old Trane furnace, likely the old board mounting hole pattern is different. The new board is the same width (height) but is shorter so I needed to drill two small pilot holes for the self tapping sheet metal screws. The wiring diagram comes with a mounting template. I printed a copy of the template, trimmed it with scissors and taped it onto the mounting panel.This motherboard comes with a few accessory wires with a push on connector on each end. I needed to use two of them to lengthen a couple of my existing wires, very easy to do.If you run into questions, the wiring diagram has a toll free number to call for technical help. Found this universal product for my old Trane gas heater just in time for the cold snap, wife would not have been happy if I could not fix the furnace. Easy install and works great, like I said, life saver. :)

Controller went out on my 30 year old Trane XE 80 gas furnace six days before Christmas. Order the controller, it said delivery December 26-29. To my surprise the controller was delivered the 23rd. Took about 15 minutes to install. Needed a jumper wire and it was included in the package! It was very easy to have heat again!
