I used these to attach a shelving unit to my garage wall. They were exactly as described and just what I needed. The star drive is great when driving such large screws, as they don't slip as Phillips head screws sometime do. I already had a driver bit, but it's nice when they include one.

I'm installing a closet organizer that hangs from steel rails, so I needed some sturdy screws to attach that rail solidly into the wall studs. Standard screws from the big orange box store weren't going to cut it, and lag screw heads are too big to work for this application. Normally I'd pay a princely sum for Spax screws, since I know that they are strong. But I figured I would order these and give them a shot, since they're more reasonably priced at just 20 cents per screw.I am very happy with these so far. They are definitely not what I'd call a deck screw--these are very much like Spax screws or Timberlok screws, both in design and in sturdiness. The oversized flat head eliminates the need for a washer, and the self-drilling tip means you don't need to pre-drill a hole for these.I'm not sure what the benefit is of having half of these black and the other half gold, but I guess it gives you choices. It's not clear at this point how durable the finish is on these and how they will hold up to constant weather exposure (not a concern of mine for the application I'm intending to use these for). There is no information on whether these are compatible with pressure-treated lumber, which is particularly corrosive to screws that aren't well-protected, so, in the absence of clear information saying these are safe to use in treated wood, I would avoid using these for that application just to be safe.
