These latches turn easily and resist peeling. I hope to convert some canvas into purses in the near future and i was looking for something that would make those purses stand out from the crowd and these cute latches are it. I only wish I could have found some silver ones, which is my personal preference. I was worried that the gold would flake of with repeated use but i used it as a stress spinner for a few hours and it was perfectly fine. Still as shiny as the day I took it out of the package. I think I am going to use glue for half, just to test the strength of the attachment but these latches look great.

These work very well and close tightly.The installation process it a little finicky, as you have to figure out how to space the two pieces so that it provides just the right about of pressure when closed. The screw holes for the larger half of the latch are covered by the latch when it's closed, so it takes an extra minute or two to mark and space everything out.The thumbscrew to close the latch isn't perfectly smooth, but that's not unexpected in this kind of latch. Latches often come with lower quality screws, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the screws that came with this. They are Philips head rather than Torx, but they are still good enough to get the job done.It exerts a surprising amount of force when latched and does a good job of keeping things closed. For the price point, these are a good option for small road case style latches.

Okay for Camper but not for fine woodworkingOne of the reviewers stated that some of the latch pair sets he received were not all highly polished. All the pairs I received were highly polished but I would have rather had better quality parts fitting and function. I would not use these on a customer’s project. I can use them on some of my own projects but if anyone asks I am not admitting that made that project with these latches. It seems that it is getting harder and harder to find Fine Woodworking quality hardware. These are the new modern “run of the mill” type hardware quality so I am giving them a rating of 4.

The ones I received are dull, dirty, look industrial not what you would want on a finished box like they show in the photos. The joints are loose making them unnecessarily difficult to install and use. And is that a cardboard box they used as an example? Overall, not that good.
