Had a broken auger cable on an old Craftsman snow blower. With the help of YouTube, I easily installed the new cable. Snow blower again works like a champ.

Included adjustment makes it easy to adjust auger belt tension. Good quality too. Working well so far.

The horror was when my cable snapped with only after 50% of my large driveway complete. We went old school and worked up a sweat with shovels. I soon realized it was the cable that activated the augers that snapped after about 16 years of service. This was an exact match for the OE cable, except it has an adjustment on the lever end. The negative of this adjustment is that it causes this to be a 45 minute repair instead of 10 minutes. You have to disassemble 10 bolts that hold the control panel on in order to be able to connect the adjustable extra long end of the cable. It is relatively simple to do, and I could do it much faster the second time around if I ever needed to do it again. There are two bolts on each side of the handlebars, and then 6 smaller bolts up underneath the panel. Once you remove all these and lift the panel up out of the way, you can install the new cable end. Not a big deal but worth noting the extra work involved. The positive is that the cable is now very adjustable, and you can fine tune it to get the exact amount of tension on the belt that activates the auger. Furthermore, as the belt wears and stretches over time, you will be able to tighten up the cable to account for this, thereby preventing any slipping of the belt and thus maintaining the effectiveness of the auger and its ability to grab and throw the snow. Overall, I would say this is an improved design over the original, just be aware that there is a little more work involved in installing it. I ordered this on a Sunday afternoon and it arrived on Monday afternoon, two days ahead of schedule. Wow, amazing Amazon!

These are real easy to install and they cost next to nothing compared to the OEM one. I can't tell them apart I still have the original one on it's 26 years old and still functions and looks new. I just wanted to have a spare do to the age of my original one, maintenance is the key to things lasting for a long time on a snowblower, just my tried and trued opinion.
