There's actually an interesting story as to why this gasket kit even exists, but I won't go into it. Needless to say, back in the day people had to buy entire head gasket assembly kits just for these two pieces. If you're experiencing the symptom of an oil leak on the front passenger side of your 3rd generation Honda Odyssey motor (you'll see the somewhat constant appearance of oil right next to the dipstick hole), and if you've got around100K miles on the car - or if you or someone has recently adjusted the valves, as this seems to trigger the issue as well - you might need these gaskets. The job itself is surprisingly easy, and there are excellent videos showing you how to replace them online. I found a video that was about 14 minutes long, and very helpful. The job itself only takes about 30 minutes depending on your skill level, and you'll only need a 12mm socket, some brake cleaner (for cleaning metal surfaces), and maybe some needle-nose pliers to help release the electrical clips in the way. The only trick in my case was getting the steel plate under the removed metal housing piece to release - it just required some gentle effort. But once both gaskets were in place - no more oil leak! It was amazing! Just some additional thoughts: You won't need any gasket sealer (HondaBond, etc.) for this one. Also, you'll want to get this done sooner rather than later - the oil drips down past the alternator and can ruin it as well. Take your time and note all the connection points you had to disconnect (consider taking a photo or two before you begin your work). Beyond that - it's a pretty easy job with instant results. This gasket kit is excellent - highly recommended!
