I've used ACCEL products since the 70's in my hotrods, and decided to spring for their single-fire kit for my 97 Dyna Glide. First pass, one of the Hall-Effect sensors was bad in the ignition module (was only firing one cylinder); so I placed a return order and then ordered another ACCEL kit which came 2 days later. Amazon has been great; ACCEL's tech guy (Craig) was very helpful, and once the new module was installed, the bike fired right up. I'm returning the old module now and I'll post to let others know how that goes.I had previously put the CV Products hot tuner kit in my constant velocity (CV) carb, and jetting was spot on. I was disappointed when the bike didn't run much better, but then discovered the factory module was degrading; the VOES switch was not working; and the vacuum diaphragm in the petcock was defective resulting in a vacuum leak. At this point, I ordered the new single fire kit from ACCEL. The stock module was $200, so it only made sense to upgrade.Pros:The kit is complete. There is nothing else to buy, and I love that concept. Other kits are less plugs, wires, etc, but the ACCEL kit came with weather pack connectors, stake-ons, plugs, wires, the coil, and fully programmable module - with sufficient cable lengths enabling a full custom installation. Installation took me about 4 hours. Even with the first defective module, I love the quality of ACCEL's products. So how does the bike run now ?It absolutely FLIES !!! Throttle response is snappy; very steady idle; and the bike pulls like a freight train ! To ensure the max potential from the install (my bike's almost 20 years old now with 8K miles), I replaced the VOES switch (5 Hg), the vacuum operated petcock, the strainer in the tank, and the vacuum lines. I then set the ACCEL module up with the most aggressive (race-multi-spark) advance curve. I am not exaggerating when I say it unleashed the beast. This bike was (to me) average before, but it is an animal now. The mid-range power is unbelievable and it pulls clean and hard to redline. I love it ! One of the simplest installs ever, and it delivered on (make that over-delivered on) performance.Cons:It's minor, but the size of the module (not a complaint) interferes with the outer cover re-installation. However, the original outer cover was riveted, and I wanted a nice "Live to Ride" cover instead. On my Dyna it required a minor mod since the screws for the "outer" cover would have contacted the module when installed. I Tig'd some thin square nuts to the inner cover, which enabled a custom cover, with screws, to be installed.Overall, this has been one of the best value purchases for my old Dyna ever, and would recommend it to anyone seeking max performance, reliability, and economy from their big twin. It truly runs better than new...
