I'd like to kick the engineer that put this above the rear cradle, but they did, and mine was clogged with dust from our 1/4 mile gravel driveway. This one is the oem replacement, so an exact fit. Goodbye CEL.

This is the part that has probably gone wrong when a 2009 Pontiac G8 throws a check engine light with the P0449 code.A GM dealer wants $700-$1000 to make this repair because the GM parts computer indicates that the only relevant part for the 2009 G8s is the vapor canister - GM part # 92221384. This is about $300 from the dealer plus maybe 3.5 hours of labor because the back end and fuel tank have to come out to get access. However, this valve is the part that has gone wrong and is really just a subassembly of #92221384. Furthermore, you save on the labor because the technician doesn't need to take quite as much off to be able to reach in and replace this part as opposed to the whole vapor canister - where I got this done, they charged 2 hours. Some people have reported getting it done for 1 hour - but in any event, 1-2 hours, not 3-4 hours. Between the cheaper part and the labor you can get this fixed for about $500 less.

Cheap price and fits 2007+ Silverado Truck. NBS. Pop off the solenoid from the round canister part and attach to the OEM piece on the truck. The electrical solenoid part is what you use. You can use a heater hose if necessary like another one of the reviews posted. This is the 2nd time I have had to replace this part on my truck, however it is a cheap and easy fix.

My check engine light came on @ 22,300 miles. I went to AutoZone, they scanned my truck and the Code P0449 came up. It said it was the purge valve, vent solenoid, canister etc. First I changed the Purge Valve Solenoid under the plastic intake cover(under the hood) which is just snapped on. That part was about $14.00, the cheapest part. I disconnected my battery and the light came back on about 10 miles later. I looked for parts online and the only one listed for my truck was a redesigned part for about $100.00-130.00. I took my one original off and it matched the numbers on this one. I took a chance and it was an exact fit. People say to buy 2 feet of 5/8 heater hose and 4 hose clamps to cut the hoses about 6 inches away from the original part and clamp the new one to the original hoses on the truck. I just heated the hoses up with a heat gun and forced the hoses back onto the new canister. It's been one week, 200 miles and no Check Engine light.

Bought this only to find out that you had to reroute a new hose through this because it was a defective part and had to be re-manufactured. I could have changed this part out but i am not a good enough mechanic to figure out how to rerun vacuum lines. Wish they would tell you these things when you buy.
