While this cover looks great once installed, Block of your Saturday to install this 3 hours job. I hope the people at AFE read this. Fire your Quality Control department. Every one of them. I spent almost 3 hours getting this cover ready to install like it should of been in the box from the factory, upon receiving this cover, the hardware bag didn’t survive shipping. Opening the box sounded like I had a box full of rocks. Luckily the box was taped 3x on the top seam or I would of had to make a trip to HD. Opening the box, taking inventory of all the Allen bolts and washers accounted for, looking at the cover, my excitement ended there, the “O” ring is just a 1/16 too small. Pushing it into the milled grove, it would pop free at the last corner. I had to take a heat gun and “warm” the ring to make it stay in place. I hope it didn’t pop out when I was installing the bolts. If so, I’ll update this post with pics with the leak. The sight gauge, reading the instructions, it states that it comes preinstalled from the factory. I included a picture from the installation manual. I spent hours looking in the AFE site, message boards, hell anything, that had either a torque value or tighten until bottomed out 🤷🏼. I wrapped Teflon tape around it and wrenched it until I was scared it would bust something. Luckily the socket size is the same as a water heater element 😉. Looking at the picture, you can see It’s not close to bottoming out. The inside of the cover had rough edges from the casting that I had to file down. Thankfully it’s aluminum. I grabbed a green scrub pad and brake clean to get this crap off. I understand about cutting costs with packaging, but the instructions looked like it was printed on a home copier (8x11) and folded/stapled. AFE, how about listing the torques next to the parts listing because listing them in the overall instructions with no picture callouts sucks while your hands are covered in crap. The Allen bolts, any LockTite? The original bolts has blue threads locker so going with AFE’s track record, I installed blue again. Have a inch pound AND foot pound torque wrenches out (with wobble sockets) . Finally, the top bolts and top fill port (look at the pic), are a bear to get tools into place. The top fill port, 50 ftlbs, with 1/2” square size inset, good luck with getting a foot pound torque wrench above it to tighten. I had to lay under the oil pan reaching around to the front side of the axle to balance the torque wrench while wrenching 1/32 back and forth trying to reach 50 ftlbs, which I never could get because of the limited space. I got close but called it a day. I just “road tested” for leaks with no drips. The sight gauge is great to see your fluid level, but damn AFE , not everyone has a lift.

Looks Great, doesn’t fit perfect! Some shaving had to be done to fit my Dana 50 axle on my 2000 Ford Excursion.

Do not listen to vehicle fit guide on Amazon. I have a 2017 F250 Powerstroke and this front differential cover fit my vehicle contrary to the fit guide. Recommend go and visually check your existing cover measure and count bolts. Some 2017 have 10 bolt cover over dana 50/60s.

I love this differential cover! Besides having extra capacity, I really aprecise the sight glass, top fill and magnetic drain plug. Talk about easy gear oil changes!
