Broke first time I used it. Seemed like good quality but won’t lock. Of course I waited to install it and now it’s outside of the return window.

I recently bought a 2016 John Deere X590 tractor with a snowblower. When I installed the snowblower for the winter the cable that aims the chute up or down was frozen. This is supposed to replace that JD cable, which costs almost $90. Although it comes with no instructions whatsoever, with a couple of hiccups along the way the replacement was easy. My only challenge was tightening the nut that holds the control end to the bracket on the tractor since you can't really get a wrench on it - the hood is in the way. It should be easy to just open the hood, but I installed a brush guard and some lights that makes it a bit harder.The control operates smoothly. You're supposed to turn the handle counter-clockwise, pull or push to adjust the angle, and then turn clockwise to lock it in place. With this cable everything works great, except the turn to lock. Sometimes I have to change the position of the chute, or rotate it multiple times to get it to lock. It doesn't sound like much of an issue, but it's distracting when you trying to steer the tractor, adjust the rotation of the chute, and the angle all at once.I needed a cable quickly, and this fit the bill. If I can't figure out the locking mechanism I'll probably spend the $90 for the John Deere cable this summer to be ready for next winter.

On time and as expected. This part must be an upgraded part because the cable fit better than the OEM. My original cable was a bit longer which could cause the cable to kink. It is a very simple installation.

I had to add a spring assist to pull metal deflector up which i knew i would. This cable is the perfect length for my JD LX173, it also locks into place very well.

The cable fit beautifully, I wish they made one you could really grease.. as thats the problem cable seizing up...any recommendations would be helpful... and yes I do lubricant them

This is the part! It's identical to OEM. Even comes with the bracket that screws on to the chute.
