I give lectures as part of my job. I have been interested in getting a presentation clicker that has a digital spotlight function for quite a while. However, the higher cost has always been prohibitive. Having tested out this new presentation clicker, I wish I bought something like this earlier on.Digital SpotlightFor those that are not familiar, the ‘digital spotlight function’ refers to the ability to highlight a specific spot on a slide. For example, using the digital spotlight function on this presenter, I am able to get my slide to darken out in the background and just have a round ‘spotlight’ on a specific portion of my slide. This allows the audience to focus on a specific area of an image. This brightened circle is moved around like a mouse by waving it in the air while pressing the button. The size of the spotlight can also be adjusted.Magnifying functionYou can also have the spotlight show up as a magnifying glass rather than a bright highlighted circle. With the magnifying function, the background is not darkened. Instead, the area inside the circle is zoomed in and magnified. Similar to the spotlight function, this is controlled by waving it in the air while pressing the button. You can customize the size of the magnifying circle as needed.Digital laserThere is also a digital laser function. This allows you to display a colored spot or circle that shows up on the slide, just as you would if you use a laser pointer. You can change the size of this laser point from a pinpoint to a circle if you prefer, and you can customize the color of this digital laser pointer as you like.Green/red laserThe clicker also comes with a physical green laser. In other models, it comes with a red laser, and that might be slightly cheaper. Green lasers shine much further and brightly. I have had several presentation clickers over the years, but this pointer has the brightest green laser of them all.The laser here is not to be confused with the digital laser function I described earlier on. While the laser function is helpful when presenting on a projection screen or wall, it is becoming increasingly common for presentations to be done on a huge TV or LCD screens. With these TV screens, you cannot really use a laser point. This is where the spotlight, magnifying, and digital laser function comes in handy. They appear as a point or circle on the presentation slide itself. In any case, even with a projection screen, it looks more professional to have a digital spotlight. Two modesThis clicker has two modes that are switched on from the side. Mode 1 allows you to use it has a standard presentation clicker with the physical laser. Mode 2 is for use as a digital clicker with all the digital functions I mentioned earlier. There is a lot you can do with this clicker. E.g. by pressing the clicker in various ways, you can get it to exit the presentation mode, or turn on presentation mode, or even use it like a mouse by waving your hands, etc. Even the customization of digital laser colors, or size of the circle can be controlled using the clicker.Learning curveEssentially, it has so many functions that it allows you to control the presentation from the front of the stage or church, even if you place your laptop at the back of the hallway, at a sound booth or A/V system. You do not need to wave to the A/V guy at the back of the room. You can control it your computer as you would with a mouse, with this presentation clicker. Note however,Since there are so many functions, there is a learning curve. I recommend bringing the instruction sheet with you for a little while so that you familiarize yourself with all the things you can do using the clicker.Clock and vibration timerThe clicker also has a digital clock that only lights up and appears when you hold the clicker in a vertical position. This clock doesn’t usually appear and there isn’t an ugly ‘screen’ or anything that is perceptible on the clicker itself. The clock only appears when it is held vertically, and it shines through the plastic surface in the middle of the device (Refer to the attached photo to see what I mean). The clock syncs to your laptop automatically when you inset the dongle. At the beginning, I could not figure out how to change the clock as there are no instructions for doing so. However, when you actually connect the dongle to a laptop, the clock synced itself automatically.Once you insert the dongle, the computer will install a small file on your computer the first time you use it. After it this program is installed, on your window taskbar (it might be hidden on the right of the taskbar), click on the ASiNG Presentation icon. That will bring up a screen that allows you to customize all the features of the clicker on the device. One of the things this allows you to do is to set a vibration timer. So if you set it to 45 mins, then on your clicker, instead of the clock, you will see a count time timer. When the 45 mins is up, the clicker will vibrate to tell you that it is time to end your presentation. You can also customize the different buttons on the device if you do not like the original configuration or change the color of the digital lasers, etc.Other featuresThe clicker is charged using a micro-USB and the device comes with a very short wire to charge if you don’t already have a micro-USB charging wire. The USB dongle has 8 GB of storage, which should be more than enough to store multiple presentation files as a backup. There are also additional files on the dongle that include instructions for using or troubleshooting the clicker if needed. Other variations of this clicker might include 16 GB or 32 GB storage capacity. The box came in a very beautiful white box. The clicker feels solid and is the right size, shape, and weight to hold comfortably while presenting. It doesn’t feel ‘cheap’ like some of the other clikcers out there. This is one slick-looking device. The clicker also comes with a small carrying case with a magnetic clasp.---ConclusionThe spotlight function(s) will give your presentation a professional look, and it is well worth the additional cost. There are many features on this clicker. As a person who presents frequently as part of my job, I was very impressed with this product. I highly recommend getting this if you are looking for a good presentation clicker.

I love my Asing Advanced Digital Laser Presentation Remote. It works on smart tv and you can actually use the green laser to point at an object on the TV. It works great.
