Someone here said it doesn’t work on a 1998 XJ, however it fits perfectly on mine. Great product, exactly what you need for 2” gauges.

I put this on my 1996 cherokee. I combined it with gauges from glowshift so now I have actual engine and transmission temperatire gauges instead if dummy lights. I attached it to the jeep using 3m auto tape and it started to kind of sag off so I eventually applied a little super glue as well. Its perfect and I was able to paint it the exact color as the interior of my jeep so it looks darn near like its stock or something. I'll upload pictures later with an update.

The 1998 and newer XJs have a different contour to the A pillar trim than the older XJs. This part will still work, but will not fit 100% flush with the surface of the A pillar. Not a huge deal though. The holes for the gauges are slightly tight, but that's better than them being too loose.

Looks good and is sturdy plastic. Once mounted it appears like it belongs there. I didn't paint it to match the factory gray but it doesn't call attention to itself since the dash is black. I'd recommend it and will buy another if I ever change vehicles.
