The BR-180 is a tone powerhouse with a beauty that is second to none. No expense was spared on this guitar as is evidenced by the authentic prewar D-45 style specifications. Each guitar is crafted to be light and resonant. Meticulous attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident in the traditional, forward-position, handcarved parabolic X-bracing which allows the solid spruce top to ring loud and true. Blueridge guitars feature a traditional dovetail neck joint, slim mahogany neck, adjustable truss rod, and butterbean-button, Kluson style tuning machines with an updated mechanism for modern precision and feel.

Installed a new unbleached cow bone saddle and a set of John Pearse pure nickel light strings.. Really enhanced the sound .

I have been a guitarist for fifty years. I currently own too many electric guitars to count, but before I ordered this BR 180, my acoustic collection includes two classical guitars, a 15 year old Lowden, a Gibson Parlor Modern acoustic, and a custom built Hoffman (Charlie Hoffman was Jim Olson's teacher/mentor). This instrument right out of the box was the equal of any of my acoustics; even the Hoffman. It has its' own character and tone, but the intonation up and down the neck, the balance, the ease of playing all over the neck, and the sheer beauty of the instrument with its inlays makes it a work of art. Considering it was a fraction of the cost of each of my other acoustics, even those purchased long ago, makes it a bargain I couldn't pass up. Can't wait for the natural "seasoning" of the tone to happen over the next few months. You will not be disappointed.

The serial number of my Blueridge BR-180 guitar says it all. The serial number,19100045, ending with 45, suggests a similarity with the Martin D45. IMHO, my BR-180 looks and sounds like a Martin D45, except for the different headstock and pick guard, but at an affordable price point - my dream come true.

Has a great sound but I had to send it back because it was buzzing on the 12th fret. Upon closer inspection I saw that the neck was bent. Not sure if it was like that from the factory or caused by changes in temp and humidity. Either way I was disappointed. Make sure when you receive it to check the neck for straightness.

I already had an old first run one of these that was pretty beat up that I had picked up off of craigslist for really cheap that badly needed fret work. I'd been using it for the last 4 years! Loved the sound and feel so much that I figured at the price these sell for, I might as well get a new one if I found the right deal rather than sink a bunch of money into the old one. Amazon sent me an email for a crazy good price on one around Christmas time and I jumped on it. I even got a really nice soft case with it. At any rate, I'm in love all over again. The finish looks great and this guitar was super close to being set up perfect for me as is. Threw some Elixer Nanoweb Bronzes on her and added a tiny bit of relief to the neck with the included allen wrench and haven't looked back! My Martin MMV is great with a nice bottom end but these things are mid range cannons that really cut through. I like it better for most solo singing/playing with my voice and it sits nicely in the mix when recorded too! Thank you!

I don't endorse anything: I like what I like and will tell you I do. My review is of my own experience.A friend who's a gigging musician by night and avid guitar collector has a Blueridge BR-163 and I noticed it on some of his music videos and he uses it on some of his music tracks. I did a search on Blueridge and one of the sites it brought me to was Amazon.ca where I reviewed the offerings. I was very skeptical about buying a Chinese-made dreadnought (styled after a great American guitar) on Amazon.ca for CAN$703+tax+shipping. My friend said for the price I had nothing to lose so I made the purchase and began worrying if I was going to pay dearly for my impulsiveness. That was then...This is now: I love this BR-180! I have had it 2 months and it keeps impressing me with its ornate visual styling (even if it's not all true inlay), seemingly solid construction and a great sound. I have made a couple of recordings in my amateur studio but I am very much impressed on how well this guitar records.Time may very well tell if it was a great investment for the price. I am still surprised (somewhat shocked even) that such a guitar can look, feel and sound almost on par with higher end instrument but right now I am savoring every moment I strum and finger-pick my BR-180.

The fit, finish and tone of the 180 are top notch! I like all the abalone, and at just over a grand, the price seems reasonable for the addition of the one piece neck, abalone, and ebony fretboard/bridge/pins over the similar BR 160. For the money, this is this is an amazing instrument.I did end up sending the 180 back because I had a BR 160 in hand that was tonally superior. I do like the abalone and one piece neck of the 180. Every instrument (any brand) is ever so slightly different and at the price the BR 180($1080) and 160($860) is at now, I would lean toward the 180. (the 180 was nearly 2x as much as the 160 when I bought in the fall). I went for the instrument with superior tone, which with these two particular examples was the 160. I still have GAS for the 180- I'll probably buy another!
