They cut great and drill quickly. Biggest complaint I have is that the set screws on the extension come loose and that is a big issue when the bit comes loose and gets stuck inside 6" of treated lumber. Great bits but extension sucks .

The stubby length is essential for close quarters of course but the case and everything is good quality. The Daredevil ones really grab and rip through things (almost as cleanly) so be prepared.

I'm adapting a 20 year old desk for use as an Amateur Radio Desk which means there's a lot of cables & wires running from shelf to shelf within the desk. Cutting holes for the cabling was going to be difficult until I discovered these Stubby Spade Bits.I'm a miserable woodworker but after the first hole I got the idea and was able to use the bits. The spade bits are pretty aggressive and tend to pull their way into the wood but with a light touch I got the hang of it and finished the work. The short length of the bits allowed me to get into tight spaces. Yes, the case is a bit small but it's much better than no case.

Spade bits were fantastic but for the blue stain they left on the drill hole. Creates an un-cleaned and un-professional look that is very difficult to remove.Otherwise, the notch was clean-cut and clear

These bits are fantastically sharp and rip through everything that I have thrown at them. I don't think I would ever not want to own a set of these again. I really like the stubby version because the extension that is include makes the set very versatile. There has not been a situation that I have not been able to use this set for.One caveat that I have noticed is that these bite so hard on initial contact that controlling them in a right angle attachment can be difficult.

These spade bits are awesome. I use them with a Bosch 18v Li-Ion cordless drill and a similar Bosch cordless impact driver. They cut fast and clean. One thing to keep in mind is: to remove the bit from a hole that does not go all the way through a piece, you have to put the drill in reverse. Repeating the cut may then smooth it so that the bit can be withdrawn without going in reverse. This is especially important when using the extension (or any extension), otherwise the extension and the bit may separate. I bought this set after buying a set of standard length (6") bits. If I knew about this set I would have only bought it, since it comes with the extension. The picture that comes up by default is wrong - the picture shows a set of 6" bits, not the stubby set. The extension works very well even though some people have been unhappy with the set screw mechanism. It worked just fine for me without excessive tightening, and makes this set very versatile.

These bits are excellent spade bits. The screw point on the tip (like a ship's auger) bit feeds the bit almost *too fast* into the wood. They stay sharp and appear to be bery durable. This will be the last set of spade bits I will have to buy for a long time. The stubby bits are excellent for use with a right angle attachment (buy the Milwaukee right angle adapter!) for boring holes in studs. Another great product from Bosch. Well worth the small premium over other brands of spade bits.

This is indeed a 6-piece stubby spade set as the title indicates, however the photo shows a 6 piece non-stubby set.Also, this set does not come with the 3/8 bit that is in the description. Instead, the 6th piece is the extension that comes with other similar sets. So there are actually only 5 bits in this set. I will submit a photo to show what was shipped.I will only take off 1 star for this as they are great bits and I do not really need the 3/8 bit as I bought them to drill larger holes. The extension is also useful and sturdy. The case is nice and fits in the lid of my Bosch drill case.

I am a Do-It-Yourself type and bought these to replace my big-box-store spade bits that wore out. I was impressed. When I used these bits to drill holes through 2x4 framing to run wire, they went through in less than 2 seconds with no effort. It feels like magic. You do have to grip the drill firmly because these are powerful bits. But if you buy these, you'll never have to wait for your drill to finish. It is done before you've blinked. Also, the shortness of the bits comes in handy when getting into tight spaces (and the extension works well too, in situations where more length is needed). Highly recommended.
