I bought this to cut a hole for a gate latches in a 4x4 post. It worked well but took some effort on my part. I think it's just me though cuz I'm not overly strong. I did get the latch put in and it works well.

What a joke. Nicely designed spade bit in general, bit when I hit the first nail, it took the brunt. It doesn't have little wing tips like most spade bits that get sheared off, but this thing was instantly quite full, and I didn't even go through the mail. I stopped when I hit it and still this thing was pretty significantly damaged. Oh well.
